The Lower East imprint drops the second half of Bred For Pleasure’s ‘Better Than This’ late- February 2015 featuring remixes from Larry Heard/Mr.Fingers.
Despite being the act’s debut release, South African Quintin Christian is notable for engineering for the likes of Rudimental, Bondax and Gorgon City while Canadian Vandermeer has been released solo material via the likes of My Favorite Robot Records and Rawthentic Music over the past few years. The first part of ‘Better Than This’ backed with remixes from Mak & Pasteman and Last Magpie, is already seeing support from the likes of Dusky, MK and James Zabiela.
Opening up the release is the ‘Larry Heard Vocal Mix’ and we’re treated to a typically soul-infused rework from the legendary producer who utilizes over ten and half minutes of snaking bass grooves, mesmeric melodies and intricate vocal processing. Following is the second take from Heard offered up under his Mr.Fingers guise – showcasing the contrast between the two aliases brilliantly with a fluid aesthetic fuelled by swirling stab echoes and rumbling sub bass.
Last up is the ‘Original Instrumental’, which focuses squarely on the smooth melodies and percussion of the original cut.
