TALKTOME releases ‘Aazra’ on Factor City Records.
After a short break the Barcelona-based Factor City Records returns with a sublime debut EP from exciting newcomer TALKTOME, for his ‘Aazra’ EP he delivers two striking originals with a couple of remixes from beGun and Reykjavik606. The fresh talent joins an ever-burgeoning label roster that boasts names like Dave DK, Ryan Davis & Nhar with remix affiliates including the likes of Paul Kalkbrenner, Fairmont, Ellen Allien and Agoria.
‘Aazra’ is a powerful and emotive opener – the most arresting aspect being the ethereal and impassioned vox which TALKTOME sublimely reverberates around whirring atmospherics, broken beats and soft arpeggiated melodies to deliver a particularly harmonic yet punchy start to the single. The warm cosmic vibes of ‘Stari Grad’ build gradually over brooding and spongy production while shifting drums and inter-changing pads seamlessly combine with oscillating keys and delicate slaps to dish up a deep and dynamic second offering.
Up for remix duty label head honcho Undo has chosen two budding artists from the thriving Spanish music scene; the Barcelona-based beGun and Donosti locals Reykjavik. For beGun’s take on ‘Aazra’ he maintains the commanding vocals from the original which he effortless works over slowed down beats and beautiful atmospherics to deliver a delicate and dreamy piece of electronic music. The duo Reykjavik take a kinetic approach to they’re re-imagining utilising frisky drums, a stripped back analogue arrangements and floating keys to bring the whole EP to a smooth and vibrant finish.
