With August bank holiday weekend just days away there are so many events playing the music we love. One very special event this weekend has to be the Notting Hill Carnival. A yearly celebration since 1965 you can now expect to enjoy a variety of music. With static sound systems playing music from midday to 7pm  you can pre-plan your day to ensure you get to enjoy some  house music.

This year there are over 30 Soundsytems to choose from. For the house music vibes we love here are our recommendations from personal experience.

Name: KCC and the Rocking Crew
Location: Wornington Rd.
What to expect: Having been established at Notting hill Carnival for over 20 years KCC attracts House Music lovers. Now a popular stop for a younger crowd you can expect to hear deep, soulful and popular house music alongside a few classics.

Name: Good Times
Location: Junction of Southern Row and West Row
What to expect: Presented by Norman Jay you can expect a ‘good time’. Deejaying for up to 6 hours each day playing a truly unrivalled eclectic mix of black and dance music spanning at least 5 DECADES. There is a mix of music but all with a housey , dancey vibe. An older crowd and expect everyone to be smiling.

The best thing to do is print out a copy of the map so if you feel like moving on you can pick a soundsytem to go to. Try and stick with your sound system through the tracks we may not be as fond of as moving is such a hassle. As music lovers we don’t like to do too much walking , if you move along too much you wont get enough listening in. It’s all day , its free and if your having a good time the odd track that doesnt suit you will simply fly by.

For details on all the sound systems we would advise Time Out London. You can get most information online and each year you can usually buy this weeks Time Out and get a pocket sized Time Out guide to Notting Hill Carnival with the map and other Notting Hill Carnival details.
