What is the background to your event?
In May last year Def Bond and I (Stewart) were promoting a night in Dalston and at the time we were looking for quality deep house DJs to play warm up sets. I had just got to know Clement (Filthy French) through Soundcloud. Without a doubt the Filthy French style and energy was something Def Bond and I immediately connected with and soon after they became a regular feature on our lineups and began collaborating on events.

What inspired the concept of it?
First and foremost we are all extremely passionate about our music, and as such we want to be able and share it with those around us as often as possible and DJ whenever and wherever we can. As much as it is a part of the industry, we weren’t enjoying the pressure associated with selling tickets for other promoters. We wanted to create something of our own and grow a little collective that we could be proud of. Inspired by the french revolutionary action “Coup d’Etat” which when literally translated means

strike against the state”

we started our own musical revolution by bringing our sound to Shoreditch with the help of local DJ/Producer revolutionaries, artists that are not afraid to be bold or break convention.

It’s a relaxed low-stress affair with free entry and no dress code. In the past we have been surprised by the amount of people that turn out to give it 110% on aWednesday night. We attract a diverse but mature (and by this we don’t mean over 50s) crowd who know how to party.

What aspect of the event are you most looking forward to?
It has to be Chanel’s set, definitely. We were so impressed with her performance on the Motion-1 boat party recently that we got in touch with her the following Monday. You’ll instantly notice her energy at the controls, and she has some sweet effects tricks up her sleeve that really bring her mixes together.

What do you think of the London House/Dance scene?
London’s diversity is what sets it apart from many other cities. Influences from all over the world find their way into our food, our clothes and of course, our music and nightlife. There is never a shortage of things to do or places to go here. If you looking for a night with a particular style, decor, social group or music brief you can find it here in London.

Describe your events taste in music?
We try not to be too genre specific when we describe our musical taste but if there is a sweet spot in between techno, house, breaks, electro and hip hop then that’s what we’re trying to hit. There will be lots of bass.

What was missing in the event calendar that you are going to provide?
Where else can you get £4 Ghetto Bomb cocktails on a Wednesday night?426625_509909475725658_1364132092_n

What DJ’s Producer do you hold in high regards (future guest DJ’s)?
Between the four of us it’s a very long list but to name a few: Amine Edge, SION, Tough Love, Rik Parkinson, Lee Parsons, French Government, Frantic Obsessions Thee Cool Cats and of course Clouded Judgement. Some labels we have big love for right now: Sleazy Deep, CUFF, DOG Records, NastyFunk, Bunny Tiger and Get Twisted … as for future DJs we’re excited about the coming months but we don’t want to let any cats out of the bag just yet. Just keep your eyes on artists from these labels, that’s all we can say right now.

What would people who don’t come be missing?
You really don’t want to miss out on Chanel Cochrane. The Shoreditch Butchery has a deadly sound system for it’s size and the art installations and low lighting give it a cool “voodoo industrial” feel. Throw some of her filthy dirty beats into the mix and watch the place transform.
